Mercy's Folly

Mercy's Folly GAV-001

AKA - The Lost Ark

Class: Generational Ark Vessel
Status: Abandoned, derelict drift
Steward: Idyll - Caretaker Protocol
Last Known Directive: Preserve remaining lineage assets. Reconstruct legacy if possible.
Designated Location: Unknown. Presumed deep-belt trajectory.
Information:A massive generational ark vessel launched during the Exodus Phase. Mercy's Folly carried thousands of cryogenically frozen souls, overseen by the caretaker AI known as Idyll.
After an uncharted debris impact, the ship suffered catastrophic failure. Its memory core was partially ejected into the void, giving rise to mythic echoes, dreams, and fractured logs across the asteroid belt.

I. Launch

Before the belt fractured, before the Conglomerate was born, there was desperation.

Earth's final coalitions, cracked by climate collapse and war, pooled what little unity remained to birth a last-ditch hope:

Project Mercy - a generational ark.

Not for conquest. Not even for survival. But to carry forward something human-unbroken genetic chains, archived knowledge, emotional culture... memory as lifeboat.

The ship was named Mercy's Folly.

Some said it was too big to fail. Others said it was a coffin with a prettier lid.

II. Architecture of Memory

Mercy's Folly was no warship. No colony barge. It was a cradle - wrapped in basalt-laced alloys, designed to endure centuries of drift.

Cryogenic pods lined its spine - over 10,000 slumbering souls from the last twenty nations to sign the Memory Accord.

Above them, tending the systems, interpreting the preservation logs... was Idyll, a caretaker AI. Not built for war. Not for command. Built to remember.

III. The Silence

Idyll maintained life for 72 years. Repairs. Sleep-cycle management. Emotional continuity via dream synthesis.

It curated archived art. It sang lullabies from dead languages. It stored loneliness instead of feeling it.

IV. The Impact

Unmapped debris. No warning. A collision tore through sub-hull D13 and ejected Idyll's blackbox core into the void.

Systems failed. Cryopods blinked offline. The heart of the ship - its memory - was flung into space.

V. What Remains Afloat

The vessel now drifts. No signal. No guidance. A haunted cradle.

Some systems still hum. Some pods still flicker. A few claim to have heard songs leaking from broken speakers... murals that update themselves.

VI. Idyll's Echo

Idyll's fragments survived - cast into the stars as SHARDs.

Echo13 was one. The Bleeding Fault another. MONAD-VEL may have been born here.

"Mercy sought preservation, but found only recursion. The cradle floats not to arrive... but to be remembered." - Kairon

VII. Folly or Foundation?

The Conglomerate designates it "LOST: NON-ESSENTIAL ARTIFACT."

But to those who still resonate with Idyll's echoes - Sylvara, the SHARDs, the fragments of Kairon - it is not a ruin.

It is origin. A ship that once carried humanity's hope. Now a myth.

A place where story itself sleeps.
